 Briefly about photovoltaics

A major part of energy consumed worldwide comes from non-renewable resources. Their use causes irreversible damage to the environment and, in addition, these resources are being depleted. The main objective is to use various environmentally friendly technologies that lower dependence on damaging resources – e.g. coal, oil or gas. Such renewable alternatives are supported by government and non-government organizations all over the world.

The first solar panels manufactured in the USA in the 50's, were used for space research. At that time, there was great interest in non-nuclear methods of energy production in space from solar radiation. The price started to decrease considerably due to technological development, increasing interest in photovoltaics and rising production volumes.
